Compare Background Search Sites

A background search gives users access to information such as criminal history information, address information, marriage/divorce records and more. The minimum information necessary to conduct a background search is often fairly little.

There are many reasons for using a background search. Hiring a new babysitter, researching tenants or looking into someone new in your life are just a few of the more common reasons.

The internet can allow background searches to be performed more efficiently and at a lower cost than ever before. However before you purchase a report do make sure you know what you are getting. Use the information below to review pricing and prior customer ratings of the service.

Information Needed To Perform A Criminal Background Search

The minimum information to conduct a background search is often the name (first and last) and location (the more specific the better but if you don't know specifics a city & state will do). If the searched individual has a common name you may need to review identifying information (such as an address, phone number, date of birth or aliases) which will help to make sure the background check is performed on the individual intended and not someone else who happens to have the same name.

I paid $60 for what I thought was 100% money back. The info was either wrong or outdated. I called to cancel and get my money back. Dwanisha told me I read the terms wrong. Dont waste your money with them.

I needed to do some background checks, but all I had was the email. Thanks to Spokeo I didn't get scammed. Subscription paid for itself in spades - and then some...

I used my credit card for the 7 day free trial and when I cancelled after 5 days I wasn't charged anything, so no problems there. The data, on the other hand, was not acurate; I was listed with a middle name (I don't have one) and, even worse, a felony conviction (I don't have one of those either). They agreed to change the info but when I checked back 3 months later it was still there. I wouldn't use this site to verify any of my employees.

Someone's been texting me with a cellphone, but when I tried calling them back.,it's diconnected. So I did a reverse no check, peoplesmart said they found it. I signed/paid up, then a few seconds later, they said they didn't have it. FALSE ADVERTISING. I thought that was illegal.

Jackpot. Was looking for my main gal Lonnie from first out of college job. This was pre-internet days so god forbid I didn't have her as a facebook friend. But we've gotten back in contact, very cool. Thanks.

Completely useless. Membership provides absolutely no information, other than requests to pay an additional individual charge for each background check. Don't waste your time with a membership, as I could not even pull up traffic ticket records using their service.

0 Stars tried 7 day free trial, on Oct. 6,2010 did a reverse # lookup, came back with no Info., but for a $1.98 charge to my cell phone, they could supply more Info. I then submited their MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATION REQUEST Form followed their instructions, cancelling membership, 8 days later my credit card was charged $35.40, Have tried to contact them, with no response. Don't give them your card #, cell phone # or anything else.

Found NetDective via consumer-warming.org. Don't trust Consumer-warning.org nor NetDetectives.Paid for NetDetective after a free search indicated records were available. After activation, told those records were on NetDetectivePlus. Paid $10.00 more. No records were found. Sent an e-mail to the company & called. I cancelled via a form you could not even e-mail back. Had to create a document attachment. I am waiting for my credit card to be refunded. If not, will contact the state Att. General. Don't trust either websites. Caveat Emptor for real!
